What a replacement conversation covers
We talk through the existing unit at a high level, what you would like to change, and how a replacement could sit within the room and the roof. Options and scope are confirmed once your project has been reviewed.
We do not assess or diagnose an existing skylight online, including leaks, damage, condensation or anything you are concerned about, and we do not claim that a replacement will resolve a particular issue. Describe what you can see and we will talk it through with you directly.

When an existing skylight needs attention
There are several reasons a homeowner asks us to look at a skylight that is already in place.
Leaking, damaged or faulty
Water appearing near the opening, visible damage, or a unit that is no longer working as it should.
Ageing or discoloured
An older unit that has yellowed or clouded, or one that is difficult to open and close.
No longer right for the room
A skylight that suits neither the way the room is used today nor the rest of the ceiling.
An older unit may also be worth reviewing where its manufacturer warranty has expired or its condition is simply uncertain. In every case the underlying cause, product suitability, roof condition and replacement scope are assessed before a formal quote is prepared. Nothing is diagnosed or promised online.
Service note: we can assess the replacement of older plastic dome skylights and, where it suits the roof and the room, discuss modern double-glazed VELUX options with you. Which option is appropriate, and what it would achieve, is only confirmed once your project has been assessed.
Existing roof conditions
Every roof presents its own conditions: covering type, pitch, access, and whatever else already sits on the roof plane, including solar panels, plumbing and services.
We look at all of it before any replacement work is confirmed, and we never ask you to go up to gather information.

Photos of the existing skylight taken from inside are genuinely useful. You can attach them, along with any plans or sketches, to a consultation request, or send them through after we have spoken.
